Southern Newspaper Invitational and the Hurricane Invitational. The academic All-Stater placed second in the Chad Antoch Memorial and the Hartford "Brawl at the Pub."

Mike Meyers, Warwick, 112 pounds
An impressive, hard-working freshman, Meyers posted a 41-1 record, losing only in the final match of the New Englands, settling for a second-place finish there. Meyers won titles in the Lancer Holiday Tournament, Hurricane Invitational, Chelmsford (Mass.) Invitational and the Woburn (Mass.) Tournament.

Conor Breagy, Exeter/West Greenwich, 119 pounds
Breagy, a second-place finisher in the freshman state tournament two years ago who missed his sophomore year because of a broken wrist, defeated a defending state champion in capturing his weight class this year. Along the way he finished first in the South County Classic and racked up a record of 40-10.

Shawn Giblin, Cranston West, 125 pounds
By winning his third straight state title and helping Cranston West capture its third consecutive team crown, Giblin now has the opportunity to become only the second wrestler in state history to win four individual state championships. Giblin placed third in the New Englands and finished first in the Warwick and Cranston Invitationals.

Jessy Penney, Toll Gate, 130 pounds
Penney, fourth as a junior at 125 last year, moved up a weight class and rolled to a 52-7 record, including more than 30 pins. He finished first in the South County Tournament, Marshfield (Mass.) Holiday Tournament, Hurricane Invitational and the Mount Greylock (Williamstown, Mass.) Invitational. He placed fifth in the New Englands.

Colin Feeley, Hendricken, 135 pounds
After two years of second-place finishes, Feeley finally broke through and claimed a championship, notching a 5-0 triumph in his title match this year. Feeley had finished second in the state tournament in 2006 and 2007, and was second in the New Englands in 2007.

Jacob Matthews, Middletown, 140 pounds
A runner-up in the states at 140 a year ago, Mathews was not to be denied this year in claiming the crown, and he went on to a second-place finish in the New Englands. Mathews was 28-3 this year, including first-place finishes in the South County tournament and the Chad Antoch Memorial. A four-year starter and Division II champion, Mathews's career record was 108-9.

Ethan Farrell, Narragansett, 145 pounds
Farrell, who posted a 15-1 dual-meet record, was named the MVP after winning his weight class in the Hurricane Invitational. He also finished first in the Wilson Cup and the Smithfield Invitational and placed second in the Mount Greylock (Williamstown, Mass.) Invitational.

James Creamer, Narragansett, 152 pounds
A 13-3 dual-meet record preceded Creamer's state championship, which helped Narragansett finish fourth as a team at the R.I. tournament. The Division II sectional champion, Creamer, a runner-up in the state tournament a year ago, placed second in the Wilson Cup and third in the Chad Antoch Memorial and Mount Greylock (Williamstown, Mass.) Invitational.

Connor Nelson, South Kingstown, 160 pounds
Nelson was named the overall outstanding wrestler in the state meet, becoming the first South Kingstown wrestler to be so honored in the history of the program, which dates to 1975. He went 32-4 this year and is 66-16 in his varsity career.

Stephen Saul, La Salle, 171 pounds
Saul, who missed the state tournament last year because of an injury, notched a spotless 15-0 dual-meet record this season en route to winning a state title. During the year, Saul won his weight class at tournaments in Cranston, Cumberland and Framingham, Mass.

Doug Johnson, Toll Gate, 189 pounds
Johnson, who lost by one point in the finals a year ago, avenged that disappointment by rolling to a 12-2 triumph in his title match this year. En route to a 43-4 record, Johnson was victorious in the South County Tournament, Chad Antoch Memorial and Mount Greylock (Williamstown, Mass.) Invitational.

Tim Bulk, Middletown, 215 pounds
Bulk, who missed the Division II sectional meet because of a medical issue, entered the state tournament as the final seed and won five matches in claiming his championship. Bulk was 26-3 this season, including titles in the Chad Antoch Memorial and Woodstock Academy Invitational, boosting his career record to 82-16.

Ken Murgo, Mt. Hope, 285 pounds
Thanks in part to a devastating cradle, Murgo amassed a 15-0 dual-meet record. But he didn't just win matches. He dominated his opponents, racking up 14 pins in his unbeaten regular season. An academic All-Stater, Murgo will be continuing his wrestling career at Williams College.
